Sports specific rehabilitation
The mission of Sports-Specific Rehabilitation is to introduce a scientifically-based clinical approach in treating the athlete. For an athlete to perform at the highest level, the musculoskeletal and neuromuscular systems must be functioning without limitations.
Sports-specific rehabilitation is not only the treatment of the injured athlete but also identification of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular deficits of which the athlete is unaware. A specific evaluation needs to be performed to determine these deficits. Evaluation skills, manual therapy skills, and the knowledge to design a specific exercise program are critical for implementing a sports-specific rehabilitation program to improve the athlete’s performance.
